The Airstream

Designed and built by Marlena and her husband Eugene, this airstream campsite provides a perfect balance between being completely immersed in nature but with creature comforts like a queen sized bed, a writing desk, a record player with the classics, a comfy reading chair and plenty of storage.

Looking for an alternative to camping? The airstream is completely remodeled and located in a private forested area, surrounded by cedar trees and wildlife. Because of where the airstream and separate kitchen and bathroom are located, you'll feel like you're in your own private nature oasis. (Bathroom and kitchen are less than 40ft from airstream, about a 20 second walk.) Walk the trail loop and catch a beautiful sunset or lay in a hammock with a good book.

SLEEPING:
Inside, you’ll find a plush queen size bed that comfortably sleeps two. Since our solar power is limited and there is no AC, we provide fans and the hill country breeze flows in through the screened windows if you keep them open at night. On cold winter nights, you can turn on the heater, so you can stay warm and cozy. Read our reviews and you’ll find that most guests have no issue being too hot or too cold at night as our location is maximized in a way that optimizes living with the seasons.

COOKING:
The outdoor kitchen is fully functional and includes filtered water, a full gas stove with a baking oven (baking oven itself can only be used in full sun), small fridge, table/chairs, and stocked with a French Press coffee maker, sugar, teas, pots/pans, dishes, utensils, salt/pepper, and cooking oil. You must bring your own charcoal for the grill.

POWER:
Since we're 100% solar powered and not connected to the grid, there are occasional instances of power loss due to numerous cloudy days. In those rare instances, you can simply push a button that turns on the backup generator.

SHOWERING AND TOILET:
Our water is collected in rain barrels and used for showering, cooking, and drinking. The full sized indoor shower includes hot water and amenities and in the bathroom, you’ll also find the composting toilet. Because of the way we maintain the dry toilet system, there is virtually no odor and you’ll find simple instructions located in the bathroom. There’s also a separate out-door shower located near the kitchen that's perfect on a hot day.

CELL SERVICE/ INTERNET:
The property has no WiFi but there is strong cell phone service with most providers. If you have a smart phone with a hotspot, you may have enough service to use the internet on your computer but most guests stay here to have a fancier-than-camping experience so they can truly unplug.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY:
The front porch is the perfect place to have a cup of coffee in the morning and watch the sun peak above the trees. Start a camp-fire in the fire pit and lounge the evening away in the hammock.

Outside Fire:
*Please no fires if there is a burn-ban* We do not provide wood for the fire pit. Local gas stations on your way into Blanco have bundles of firewood for sale.

DOGS
Dogs/pets are allowed at this listing, but please include them in your reservation so that I can share important safety information with you.

CRITTERS, BUGS, HUNTING:
This is Texas, so you may come across bugs and other critters during your stay so bring appropriate shoes and stay aware of where you walk. You may also hear hunting activity from our neighbors during hunting season but it happens sporadically and doesn’t last long.

There is a clearly marked private trail so please don't cross boundary lines (single barbed wire low fence) or you could be trespassing onto neighbor's land.

SURROUNDING AREAS:
15-20 minutes to the Blanco town square is where you’ll find local favorites like Oro Bianco: Texas' first and only water buffalo dairy and creamery with amazing coffee and gelato. You’ll also find a brewery, antique shops and local restaurants. For a day of wineries, drive 30 miles to Fredericksburg, or hike at Enchanted Rock. Take a swim at Hamilton Pool or Pedernales Falls State Park as you drive into Austin or San Antonio for dinner or a live show. You’ll find a special notebook in the cabin with our recommended local listings.
