The Cabin

Designed and built by Marlena and her husband, Eugene, this 400 square foot sustainably built tiny cabin with a front deck, rooftop deck, screened in back porch has plenty of space to roam or stay indoors and enjoy the views from the wall to wall 5 to 7 foot tall screened windows. Enjoy a private trail to the ancient oak tree.

FYI: Our own cabin is about 300 feet from this one and our carport is next to your parking spot. The cabins are separated by trees and a privacy fence.

SLEEPING:
Inside, you’ll find a plush queen size bed and a plush sleeper sofa with a queen size mattress that both comfortably sleep two. ***Since our solar power is limited and there is no AC at night, we provide fans and the hill country breeze flows in through the 6 ft tall wall to wall screened windows if you keep them open at night.**** On cold winter nights, you can light the wood stove with our provided wood so you can stay warm and cozy.

CELL SERVICE/ WIFI:
Our 4G/5G WIFI uses a cellular network and works well inside the cabin, with the use of a laptop. **It doesn't work with a cell phone since a phone has a weaker wifi antenna than a laptop.*** While the wifi may not work here with your cell phone, we do get good cell service here.

COOKING:
The kitchen includes a medium sized fridge (4.56 Cu. Ft. fridge with 2.96 Cu. Ft. bottom freezer), sink, a 2-burner gas stovetop, a dining table + 2 chairs, and amenities like French Press coffee and teas. It's stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, salt, pepper, cooking oil, and some other spices. Outside, you’ll find a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking. We have a backyard fire pit for you to use, unless we close it during a burn-ban. You must bring your own wood for the fire pit and charcoal for the grill.

SHOWERING AND TOILET:
Our water is collected in rain barrels, filtered, and used for showering, cooking, and drinking. The full sized glass shower includes hot water and amenities and beside it you’ll find the composting toilet. Because of the way we maintain the dry compost toilet system, there is virtually no odor and you’ll find simple instructions located in the bathroom.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY
The front porch and rooftop viewing area are perfect places to watch the sunset or sunrise over the distant hills. Start a camp-fire in the fire pit and lounge the evening away in the hammock. Hike a private forested trail to our 500 year old oak tree.

Outside Fire:
*Please no fires if there is a burn-ban* We do not provide wood for the fire pit but we do provide it for your indoor wood-stove during winter. Local gas stations on your way into Blanco have bundles of firewood for sale.

DOGS
Dogs are not allowed at this listing; however if you must bring your pooch, check out our other Airstream listing where they are very much welcome!

CRITTERS, BUGS, HUNTING:
This is Texas, so you may come across fire ants, scorpions, snakes, and other bugs and critters during your stay so bring appropriate shoes and stay aware of where you walk. You may also hear hunting activity from our neighbors during hunting season but it happens sporadically and doesn’t last long.

SURROUNDING AREAS
15-20 minutes to the Blanco town square is where you’ll find local favorites like Oro Bianco: Texas' first and only water buffalo dairy and creamery with amazing coffee and gelato. You’ll also find a brewery, antique shops and local restaurants. For a day of wineries, drive 30 miles to Fredericksburg, or hike at Enchanted Rock. Take a swim at Hamilton Pool or Pedernales Falls State Park as you drive into Austin or San Antonio for dinner or a live show. You’ll find a special notebook in the cabin with our recommended favorite local outings.
